New guidance “Managing noise in the coal industry to protect hearing” (2013) is available now as a free download.

‘Coal mining has the highest incidence rate of [industrial deafness] claims in all the industries examined – nearly 14 times the national average.’ (Australian Safety and Compensation Council, 2006).

The guidance booklet, produced by ‘The Coal Services’ is designed to help underground and surface mine operators, mine workers and their representatives in recognising and managing the risks associated with occupational noise exposure and promote a better understanding of the health effects and control of noise in the mining environment.
